A social network for sports enthusiasts had been operating for about 18 months.
While they had great content and a small loyal user base, they were not receiving
the traffic they would have expected, given the time that had passed and the amount
of money they had spent on so-called SEO optimization. |
| |
Through an urgent referral from one of our existing clients, we looked into why this may have been happening to this site. |
| |
Just 15 minutes into our research we discovered the problem. A problem that wasted over $10,000 the past year for our perspective clients. |
| |
| |
It seemed that their past "SEO firm" had just copied the keywords from a popular site that they thought was in the same industry of this client. |
| |
| |
The Problem: |
| |
| |
The site whose keywords they copied were in the sports gambling industry.
This is a problem for two reasons: First, this client was not in the sports book
Industry, nor had any paid product similar to the site whose key words that had
haphazardly copied. The second being that any search terms relating to gambling
are regularly blocked by major search engines because of laws against on line gambling in the US. |

| |
The Solution: |
| |
| |
Simply by noticing this mistake, we were able to obtain the client.
Then we spent a few days frequenting our new client's site.
Observing the user base, and analyzing where their traffic was coming from,
we were able to align the clients site with the roots over their user base.
We designed a campaign that aligned them with other sites having a similar
demographic traffic, as well as positioning them at the top of the search engines
for truly relevant traffic. Within 60 days the traffic on this site increased by 176%.
Today they get more then 22,000 unique visitors per month, and they have decreased
their search engine marketing cost by 300% |
